Generalmente asociado con el nacimiento del impresionismo a mediados del siglo XIX en París, en realidad Edgar Degas (1834-1917) huyó de esterotipos y desarrolló un estilo único, fuertemente influido por los maestros clásicos, el cuerpo en movimiento y la vida cotidiana en la ciudad.
